BOMMA Flare: When a Light Fixture Looks Like Its Own Universe

There’s a spiral of light frozen inside a crystal rod. That’s not a metaphor. That’s literally what’s happening with BOMMA’s Flare collection.

Designed by Kateřina Handlová, Flare is built on an old glassmaking technique: molten glass gets covered in tiny glass shards, then pulled by hand. Stretching the rod elongates those fragments into a texture that catches light in a way that’s hard to describe until you see it in person. Every time it turns on, it flares.

What makes it genuinely useful for a high-end interior is the flexibility. The crystal rods can run in clean straight lines, dramatic spirals, or completely freeform arrangements. It works in a soaring entryway, above a dining table, or as a focal point in a living space that already has everything else figured out. Each installation is essentially one of a kind.

BOMMA lighting in La Jolla, California

At Unscripted Spaces, we bring pieces like this into projects across La Jolla and San Diego, alongside Poliform cabinetry, antoniolupi bathrooms, Mehraban rugs, and the rest of our luxury design portfolio. Lighting is always part of the conversation, not an afterthought.

If you’re in the middle of a remodel or starting something new, see how we work or just reach out and tell us what you’re building.
