BOMMA’s Tim Light Turns 10

There’s a difference between a light fixture and a piece of art. BOMMA‘s limited edition Tim light is both, and there are only ten of them in the world.

To mark the 10th anniversary of the Tim light, Czech glassmaker BOMMA teamed up with German artist Anselm Reyle to create something that sits right at the edge of contemporary design and fine art. At Unscripted Spaces, this is exactly the kind of piece we get excited about.

The Original Tim

Tim was the very first light ever produced at the BOMMA glassworks, a decade ago. Hand-blown crystal, a clean form, a distinctive presence. Over ten years, it became one of the more recognizable names in contemporary Czech design. Not bad for a debut.

What Reyle Brought to It

Anselm Reyle is known for foil paintings, stripe work, and pulling found objects out of their original context to give them new meaning. That sensibility translates directly here. Each monumental hand-blown crystal form is marked with spontaneous strokes of black spray paint and neon pink acrylic. Bold neon light replaces the conventional bulb inside. The result pulses. It commands a room.

This isn’t decoration. It’s a collectible object where glass craftsmanship and contemporary painting meet head-on.

Good Design Doesn’t Stop at the Furniture

Lighting is one of the most under-considered elements in a home. People spend months choosing the right sofa, the right marble countertop, the right cabinetry — and then hang a builder-grade fixture overhead. The Tim limited edition flips that logic entirely. It’s the thing people walk in and immediately ask about. The Tim anniversary edition was realized in partnership with DSC Gallery in Prague, which is also currently showing Reyle’s solo exhibition The Metamorphosis through April 24, 2026.
