Why We Love Gessi
Gessi is an Italian family-owned faucet company that doesn’t think of itself as a faucet company. Their philosophy is closer to jewelry. The faucets are the jewels of the space. They are the accessories that finish the bathroom or kitchen the way the right watch finishes an outfit.
That might sound like marketing language, but the product backs it up. All of their faucets are machined from solid brass rods with no welding, so there are no weak points, no cracks, no fissures over time. Their finishing is done entirely in-house, which is how they’ve been able to develop around 30 different finish options for the bathroom lines. You can choose the texture of the metal surface too. They offer different gnarling patterns, so the grip and tactile feel of the faucet is customizable. That level of detail is unusual.
They’re also expanding their kitchen collection significantly. When it comes to integrating a faucet into a Poliform kitchen, Gessi is one of the cleanest fits we’ve found.
Products We Love Right Now
Officine Kitchen Faucet
This is the faucet in our working kitchen in the showroom, in matte black. The finish is powder-coated directly onto the metal so there’s no peeling or scaling. It infuses with the metal. Has a great shape and holds up beautifully in daily use.
Jacqueline
One of Gessi’s most extraordinary pieces. Made from bamboo, they insert a brass rod into the bamboo, steam it, form it by hand in a mold while it dries, then hand-torch the exterior. Each one is finished individually. The result is a faucet that looks like a natural object. We have this in the showroom.
Perle
The Perle faucet looks like quilted leather. The controls look like a leather strap. But it’s all carved, powder-coated brass. The level of detail is extraordinary, and it’s a great example of Gessi’s jewelry philosophy in action.
Vita Café
Not yet available in the US, but worth knowing about. It’s a kitchen faucet that also functions as a coffee maker. Espresso pods go into the faucet. It produces both water and espresso. Unconventional, but perfectly Gessi.
