Why We Love Albed
Think of Albed as the smart partner to Lualdi. Lualdi is the highest quality, most material-rich door in Italy. The one you want for your master suite entry, a feature bathroom, or a statement pivot door. Albed sits alongside it as a well-designed, well-made aluminum-based alternative that comes in at roughly 20% less.
The focus at Albed is aluminum. All of their frames, structures, and jambs are aluminum, which makes them precise, durable, and very clean in appearance. But what I find genuinely interesting about Albed is that they offer things Lualdi doesn’t. Their glass options are exceptional, etched patterns, screen prints, mesh wire inserts, frosted sections combined with clear sections in the same panel. If you want a door that does something unusual with glass, Albed is often where we go.
They also partnered with a hardware company to develop their own handles and locks. So the hardware is exclusive to Albed. You won’t find the same pieces anywhere else. That kind of detail matters when you’re trying to make a door feel considered rather than generic.
We’re also installing their portal door, the Entre-Deux, in our showroom. It’s a piece that’s been getting a lot of attention lately for good reason. Come in and see it.
Products We Love Right Now
Entre-Deux
This is the portal door and the one going into our showroom. It has a metal portal frame around it that can be on one side or both sides of the wall. Inside the portal, the door panel can be solid material, glass, wood, or lacquer. The portal frame is a very current architectural detail that gives a doorway real presence without being heavy or traditional. It’s a great way to make a transition between rooms feel intentional.
Celine Sliding Door
A sliding door where the rails and pillars actually divide the glass into separate sections, each of which can have a different finish. So you could have frosted glass on the bottom and clear on top, or a combination of etched and plain. This is particularly useful for bathroom doors where you want some privacy below but light above. It’s a detail that sounds simple but looks very refined in person.

How We Use Albed in Projects
The way we think about doors on a project is strategic. Feature doors like the master suite, the master bathroom, a home office partition, go in Lualdi. Secondary doors throughout the rest of the house, where you still want quality and good design but don’t need the same level of material investment, go in Albed. The two brands work well together because they share a similar minimal, contemporary aesthetic. A client walking through the home won’t feel a jarring shift.
