Mehraban: Handmade Rugs in La Jolla
We source and specify Mehraban rugs as part of interior design projects throughout La Jolla and San Diego. A great rug anchors a room. It’s one of the hardest elements to get right, and one of the most visible when it’s wrong.
Why We Love Mehraban
Mehraban is based in Los Angeles with manufacturing in Nepal. All of their rugs are handmade and made to order, though they keep some stock on hand for faster turnarounds.
What draws me to them is the range. They cover everything from very modern and contemporary graphic designs to traditional, antique, and even vintage rugs. So no matter what direction a project is going aesthetically, Mehraban has something that fits.
They also collaborate with outside designers on exclusive collections. One of them is Cesar Geraldo, a Colombian interior designer who has done collections for Mehraban based on cities around the world. Two of those rugs, Milan and New York, are on our showroom floor right now.
For material, they work with wool and bamboo silk, and the construction can be either hand-knotted or loom-built depending on the client’s budget and preference. If you want to customize a colorway, you can do that too. The standard patterns are a starting point, not a limit.

Mehraban New York
The companion to the Milan rug from the same collection. A different graphic feel, both available in hand-knotted or loom-built construction. We also have a wide range of samples in the showroom so you can see different patterns, colorways, and material combinations before committing to anything.
